PRICE $475 per semester + $50 registration fee REGISTRATION & PAYMENT • $50 registration fee due at booking to secure your spot. • Full payment of the class fee is due by the first day of class. Online payment is available and preferred. • If paying with charter funds: register to hold your spot and use the charter promo code at checkout, then place an order with your charter. Proof of PO required by the first day of class. SEMESTER & SIGN-UP • This sign-up period is for the Fall semester. The class runs throughout the school year (two 15-week semesters). • You commit and pay one semester at a time by registering and paying the registration fee. The $50 registration fee is required each semester. GRADES Grades 1st & Up TIME Wednesdays 2:30pm-3:30pm 1 hour per week INSTRUCTOR Amy Mahan COURSE DESCRIPTION In this course, students will build skills through different mediums within the elements of art (color, form, shape, scale, line, texture, value). We will explore with charcoal, graphite, watercolor and gouache (a mix between oil and watercolor) on heavyweight paper in our mixed media sketchbook. Students will exploring shapes (ex. circles vs inorganic circles), how form is built through shadows and highlights, shading with pencils/charcoal (cross hatching, stippling, and more)! We will also draw and paint a self portrait to learn more about form and ourselves. We will have so much fun in this class as we dive into different art mediums and skills! MATERIALS • Materials are included in the class price. On the first day each student will receive a personal materials kit containing all supplies in an HAA tote bag. • Students should bring their kit to class each week. Please label supplies with the student’s name to avoid loss. CLASS DURATION Fall 2026 15-week semester: September 14, 2026 - January 15, 2027 LOCATION HAA Studio: 8610 Hamilton Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 PARKING Please check the welcome email (sent after registration) for detailed parking instructions. CANCELLATION POLICY Registration fee is non refundable. Cancellations for classes may only be refunded as credit towards another class or workshop. Any issued credit must be used toward a class or workshop within 6 months of the original purchase date. After 6 months, any remaining credit will be forfeited.
