PRICE $245 per semester + $50 non-refundable registration fee To simplify registration, full payment of the class fee is now required when booking to secure your place in the class. If paying with charter funds, please register to hold your spot, and use the charter promo code at checkout. Then place an order with your charter. Proof of PO required by the first week of class. Note: This sign up period is for the Spring semester. The class runs throughout the school year (two 15-week semesters). You commit and pay one semester at a time by signing up and paying the registration fee. (You will need to pay the registration fee each semester.) GRADES Grades 4th & Up TIME Fridays 10:15am-11:15am 1 hour per week INSTRUCTOR Sofia Ketterer COURSE DESCRIPTION Learn the step-by-step process of creating drawings and paintings using the time-tested methods of the masters. In this class, students will build a strong foundation in the fundamentals of art — including values, shading, and creating the illusion of three-dimensional form. You’ll explore a range of mediums such as graphite, charcoal, and gouache, while studying essential topics like color theory, perspective, composition, light logic, and shape design. Through a mix of guided projects and personal work, students will develop both technical skill and creative expression. This class is perfect for beginners eager to learn the fundamentals, as well as more experienced artists looking to refine their craft in a supportive, inspiring environment. MATERIALS Supplies will be purchased by the student. You can purchase these supplies at Art Supply Warehouse, or from our amazon store front. CLASS DURATION Spring 2026 15-week semester: January 19, 2026 - May 22, 2026 LOCATION HAA Studio: 8610 Hamilton Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations for classes may only be refunded as credit towards another class or workshop. Any issued credit must be used toward a class or workshop within 6 months of the original purchase date. After 6 months, any remaining credit will be forfeited.
