PRICE $ 525 per semester + $50 non-refundable registration fee At checkout, pay the $50 registration fee to hold your spot. Then pay the class price $525 with cash/check/Zelle on the first day of class, or pay through your charter. Note: This sign up period is for the Spring semester. The class runs throughout the school year (two 15-week semesters). You commit and pay one semester at a time by signing up and paying the registration fee. (You will need to pay the registration fee each semester.) GRADES Grades 4th & Up (including adults) TIME Tuesdays 5:00pm-6:30pm 1.5 hours per week INSTRUCTOR Maddison Olivia COURSE DESCRIPTION We will explore famous female painters in art history, ones we have heard about and others that have gone under the radar. We will learn about a different female painter each week, study their technique and create our own artwork in our own style. One class we will cover is creating a self portrait while studying a women known for this, who you may have heard of, named Frida Kahlo. Other classes we will study a less known female painter like Artemisia Gentileschi. She often incorporated the technique chiaroscuro (meaning strong contrast with light & dark) prominently in her paintings. For this we will make a painting with strong contrast yet allow our creativity and style to flow through us as we paint! The only way to find our style is to keep painting and drawing...what better way to explore this than strong female painters in our Art History? MATERIALS Supplies will be purchased by the student: - Notebook for notes about painters - Mixed media paper sketchbook - Gouache paints (simple palette colors) CLASS DURATION Spring 2026 15-week semester: January 19, 2026 - May 22, 2026 LOCATION HAA Studio: 8610 Hamilton Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations for classes may only be refunded as credit towards another class or workshop. Any issued credit must be used toward a class or workshop within 6 months of the original purchase date. After 6 months, any remaining credit will be forfeited.
